The Kuala Lumpur leg of the 2008 Olympic torch relay concluded successfully on Monday(21th) when the last torchbearer, Malaysia’s ninth king and sultan of Perak, Azlan Shah, lit the waiting flame cauldron at about 6:00 p.m. local time! Unlucky, I am not able to present this Troch Relay because of I was working at Melaka during that time! Anyways I still would like to share some picture that I found on the internet!

Beijing Olympic Torch Is Like A Pair Of Chopstick

Previously, I introduced about the Beijing Olympic Mascots and competition’s stadiums! This time, I would like to introduce you the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch! I think most of you have seen the design of the Beijing Olympic torch! What was thinking about after you have seen it??? What it looks like? It is exactly look like a pair of chopstick, isn’t it? Although, it looks like a pair of chopstick, but I believe there are a lot of meaning and characteristic inside there!

The Beijing Olympic Torch boasts strong Chinese characteristics, and showcases Chinese design and technical capabilities. It embodies the concepts of a Green Olympics, a High-tech Olympics and the People’s Olympics.

The Key Facts about the Torch

The torch is 72 centimetres high, weighs 985 grams and is made of aluminium. The torch is of a curved surface form, with etching and anodizing being used during its production. A torch can usually keep burning for approximately 15 minutes in conditions where the flame is 25 to 30 centimetres high in a windless environment. The torch has been produced to withstand winds of up to 65 kilometres per hour and to stay alight in rain up to 50mm an hour. The flame can be identified and photographed in sunshine and areas of extreme brightness. The fuel is propane which is in accordance with environmental guidelines. The material of its form is recyclable.

Singapore Youth Olympic 2010

21 February 208 this is the day that every Singaporean should be remembered! The IOC President Jacques Rogge at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne has unveiled that Singapore has been awarded the right to host the first Summer Youth Olympic in 2010!!! Congratulation to Singapore!!! It is such an amazing and unbelievable event! How a small country (even smaller than Malaysia) has the ability to organize the Olympic game! We all have to be pounded of them!!! Once again Congratulation!!!


The Youth Olympic Games are a sporting event for young people ( aged from 14 to 18 – from around the word), balancing sport, education and culture. These Games work as a catalyst in these fields throughout the Olympic Movement.

The 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore will bring together approximately 3,200 athletes and 800 officials. The sports programme will encompass all sports on the programme of the 2012 Summer Games with a limited number of disciplines and events.

In the previous post “Olympic Beijing 2008 Competition’s Stadium” I showed you all the competition venues. But, today I am going to show you the Beijing newest mascots!

The “Five Friendlies” are Beibei, a fish creature; Jingjing, a panda; Huanhuan, a malevolent fire demon; Yingying, an antelope; and Nini, a swallow. Halved and strung together, their names (”bei jing huan ying ni”) translate to “Welcome to Beijing.” They can also combine to form a giant hospitality robot.
